Fundamentals of Design

Learning and exploring various elements and principles of design. The subject exposes the student to the basics of design and the fundamentals of design theory. Students will learn to understand and appreciate design by exploring and applying various elements and principals of design including color and color theory. The study of human factors like ergonomics and anthropometry will be an integral part of the course so that students will be able to understand the relation between the natural and the built environment.

Visual Communication & Presentation

Understanding and application of colors, patterns, textures, etc. Presentation techniques, Developing basic & important skill of making & reading drawings. The subject forms the foundations of an interior designer’s work as it helps the designer to come up with and communicate original ideas. The subject includes the basics of technical drafting, illustrative sketching and presentation of work using various medias.

Studio for Residential Space

Understanding and designing of all residential spaces from conceptual to execution level. Basics of kitchen and bath design. The design studio introduces students to the concept of designing residential spaces. Students will learn how to conceptualize design and execute it using various techniques. Space planning, defining finishes and materials for a space as well as making working and presentation drawings will be an integral part of the course.

Interior Construction and Detailing

This subject form the foundation of fashion designer’s work as it helps a designer to come up with original ideas. Students will be introduced to the basic kids and female illustration and use of different drawing tools as well as color medium and rendering techniques which will help them to develop an understanding about the proportion of figures of kids and women and to improve sketching and drawing skills. Students will be learning to form different prints, textures of fabric and to develop the same on the garments in the form of illustration. It also includes interesting exercises like stippling, hatching, storytelling (in form of comics), object drawing, perspective drawing, isometric drawing, etc.

Essential of Materials & Systems

Helps the students to learn about the properties and usage of various materials and finishes like wood, stone, glass, metal, etc. Application of interior services like electrical, plumbing and drainage. It is very important for an interior designer to having a good understanding of the materials and finishes available and being used in interiors. Interior Fabrics

INIFD Gandhinagar Students will study the importance of Fabrics in interior design and how to choose fabrics and other woven material for an interior space. Emphasis will be laid on understanding the various types of fibers and woven and non-woven fabrics used in interior design and their manufacturing process at the end of the course the student will have a thorough knowledge of the variety and usage of the fabrics available for interior design.

Furniture Design Studio

This course is design to explore designing, production and usage of furniture in interior space. Students will learn to appreciate furniture as functional art and will also study the history and evolution of furniture by doing various projects.

Interior Environment and Control

This subject teaches Environmental & Interior Design (B.F.A.) Through the exploration of the art and architecture of environmental design, students solve problems in a broad range of built environments. Students work closely with faculty in a studio environment similar to the professional design office experience.

Media and Communication for Interior Design

In this subject emergent new media design methods will be examined in a broad context of evolving cultural, technological, sociological and scientific developments.
